Active Chapter News:
With the change in weather comes a new semester here in Farmville. We are all very excited for this semester as it has come with much anticipation of a large pledge class, sunny weather, and, of course, Pig Roast. Right now, we are looking at a possible 12 pledges, maybe more maybe less. With the active brothers in the 20's, this would be a significant improvement in our numbers. Here are some dates to keep in mind if you would like to attend any of our Rush events this week:
- Tues Jan 30: Chapter Room 7:007:15, 7:45-8:00
- Wed Jan 31: Open House Chapter Room 6:00-8:00
- Thur Feb 1:Open House and Interviews 6:00-7:00, 7:00-10:00 Bid Session
I have been in contact with Chris Peebles, and he mentioned that some people are interested in attending some of these functions, February 1st being the most important. For further information please contact me or Chris Peebles.
This past week a number of Brothers headed down to North Carolina for the Ralph Burns workshoplittle did we know how cool we are compared to other Chapters. It was nice to meet and hear what other Chapters are like, and what things we have in common with them. Along with meeting and greeting Brothers, we were able to improve on our relations with our National Chapter. As you may know we completed our National debt and currently owe Brother William “Biff
” Weaver 850.00 dollars for taking that debt upon himself. We are in search of a Grand Chapter Advisor. Please let me know if you have any interest in this position.
NOTE: THE DATE FOR PIG ROAST HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN SET FOR APRIL 28. Please mark your calendars. Much progress has been made over break as far as the party goes. We have 2 bands set so far, one being a rockabilly band “Good Natured Riot,
” and another being a ska/alternative band. We are looking at possibly adding another band so if you have any ideas please feel free to contact me. All sororities have been invited to this event and we shoot to have about 450 people there. We have a number of fields to choose from the furthest being 15 minutes out of Farmville.
A bus will be leaving from Richmond and arriving in Farmville at approximately 11:00 that morning. Please contact Chris Peebles for further information. If you plan on staying in Farmville that weekend, I will include names and prices for hotels in town in emails to come. The after party will be held at an establishment such as the Moose Club or Elks Lodge here in town. We are in the process of designing shirts, and we plan on having a typical design on the front and a list of all the Brothers and their rosters on the back. I will include a picture in a later email to come. We have a lot of events planned for this day, and it should make for the most memorable Pig Roast in years. If you have any questions concerns ideas or would just like to help, please feel free to contact me.
