Alumni Meetings:
Northern Virginia Meeting
7:10 – The meeting was called to order. 8 brothers were in attendance. Marcus Green, Steve Frazier, Jeremy Stombaugh, Dante Ricci, Lance Daughtry, Kevin Saignac, Andy Kimble, & Sean Murphy.
There was an extensive conversation on the state of the Chapter, the state of the campus, and how/why the Alumni Association formed. There was also significant conversation about the role of the Alumni Association now that it is formed.
Suggestions were floated for ways that the Alumni Association and Chapter can be improved.
- Weekly posts from the active Chapter to the website were requested that include Chapter needs. The general feeling was that the Chapter knows what it needs better than the Alumni do.
- It was also requested that the website have a simple resume forum to facilitate Alumni and graduating brothers’ resumes being seen by Alumni looking for employees.
- Make sure that there is a designated, highly visible, undergrad to receive donations. A manned table or booth was recommended.
There was a certain concern that the Alumni were placing a cap of money being sent to the active chapter for Pig Roast. This idea came from the initial Alumni Association letter in November addressing debt relief. This should be addressed for clarity.
Pig Roast activities were requested by the active chapter to promote interaction between Alumni and the active Brothers. Due to time constraints, this was not fully addressed.
Dante Ricci asked for participation in the upcoming Dante Ricci Annual Golf Tournament on May 19th.
The next meeting will be scheduled for Wednesday, April 4th at 7:00pm. The tentative venue is at Greevy’s again. As traffic in the Northern Virginia area will probably factor into attendance, and there was a significant winter storm in the areas, there is a standing question of who would have attended if the venue was at another location. Anyone who would have liked to have attended the meeting, but could not, should email Sean Murphy with suggestions. The requirements are:
- Location near a major highway.
- Large enough to host 20 people during dinner
- Quiet enough so that everyone can hear what is being discussed
